Samsung 990 EVO Plus NVMe SSD

A mid-tier NVMe drive that reaches close to flagship speeds in everyday use while costing noticeably less. It works in both PCIe 4.0 and 5.0 slots, so it will move to a future machine. Sustained writes drop further than the 990 PRO under heavy sequential loads, which matters for video work and not for gaming or general use. Good efficiency keeps it cool in laptops. The sensible choice for most system drives.
