Apple MacBook Air 13" (M4)

The 13-inch MacBook Air is the laptop most people should buy before considering anything heavier. The M4 chip runs completely fanless, so it stays silent under sustained load, and the 13.6-inch Liquid Retina panel reaches 500 nits — bright enough to work beside a window. At 1.24 kg it disappears into a bag, and real-world battery life lands in the mid-teens of hours for writing and browsing. Two Thunderbolt 4 ports, MagSafe charging and a headphone jack cover most days; you will want a hub if you live on wired peripherals. Best for writing, web work, light photo editing, and anyone who values silence over raw throughput.
