Lenovo ThinkPad T14 Gen 5

The T14 is the workhorse below the X1: heavier, cheaper, and easier to repair. The bottom cover comes off with captive screws to reveal a replaceable battery, two SODIMM slots and an M.2 bay, which makes it the pick for organisations that keep hardware five years and upgrade it in place. The keyboard is the familiar ThinkPad layout with a TrackPoint. At 1.36 kg it is not a travel machine, and the display, while accurate, is dimmer than the X1's. Buy it for durability and serviceability rather than for excitement.
