Canon EOS R50

A small, light APS-C camera aimed squarely at people upgrading from a phone. The automatic modes are genuinely good, the autofocus inherits Canon's excellent subject tracking, and the guided interface explains what the settings do rather than assuming knowledge. Build is plastic and there is no weather sealing. Battery life is modest. As a first proper camera for travel and family photography, one of the easiest recommendations to make.
